August 2026: Local Events Worth Exploring Around Baltimore, Anne Arundel & Howard County

One of our favorite things about living in Central Maryland is that there's always something happening close to home. Whether you're looking for a fun date night, a family outing, or simply an excuse to get outside before summer winds down, August has plenty to offer.

Here are a few local events happening throughout Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County, and Howard County that caught our eye this month.

Baltimore County

Hot August Music Festival – Oregon Ridge Park (Cockeysville)

If you love live music, this is one of Baltimore County's signature summer events. Pack a blanket or lawn chair and spend the day enjoying nationally known musicians, local food vendors, and the beautiful setting at Oregon Ridge Park. It's a great way to soak up the last few weeks of summer.

🎵 Free Summer Concerts at Lurman Woodland Theatre – Catonsville

Hidden in the woods behind Catonsville High School, this outdoor amphitheater hosts free concerts throughout the summer. Bring a picnic dinner and enjoy everything from bluegrass to jazz under the trees. It's one of those local gems that's easy to overlook until you've experienced it.

Reisterstown Farmers Market

Fresh produce, baked goods, flowers, local vendors, and a relaxed small-town atmosphere make this one of my favorite weekend outings. It's also dog-friendly, making it a great excuse to bring your four-legged friend along.

Anne Arundel County

Kegs & Corks Festival – Crownsville

Maryland wineries, local craft breweries, live music, food trucks, and artisan vendors all come together for one of Anne Arundel County's most popular summer festivals. Whether you're a wine enthusiast or just looking for a fun afternoon with friends, this event has something for everyone.

🍺 A Taste of Arundel Grown – Davidsonville

Hosted at Homestead Gardens, this annual event showcases the very best of Anne Arundel County. Enjoy locally sourced food, Maryland beer, wine, and spirits while supporting local farms and producers. It's a wonderful evening to discover new local favorites, enjoy live entertainment, and celebrate the community.A Midsummer Night's Dream

Enjoy Shakespeare under the stars in a beautiful garden setting. This outdoor performance is a unique way to spend an August evening and a perfect date night if you're looking for something a little different.

Howard County

Merriweather District Summer Events – Columbia

The Merriweather District comes alive during the summer with free concerts, fitness classes, outdoor movies, and community events. Grab dinner at one of the nearby restaurants before enjoying an evening outside in Downtown Columbia.

🥕 Howard County Farmers Market

August is one of the best months to visit your local farmers market. You'll find fresh tomatoes, peaches, sweet corn, local honey, artisan breads, flowers, and handcrafted goods. It's a simple way to spend a Saturday morning while supporting local farmers and makers.

Explore Lake Kittamaqundi

Sometimes the best community event is simply getting outside. Take a walk around Lake Kittamaqundi, enjoy the fountains, grab coffee or dinner nearby, and soak in one of Columbia's most beautiful public spaces. It's the perfect way to enjoy a warm summer evening.

Make the Most of Summer

One of the things we love most about living and working in Central Maryland is how many incredible events happen right in our own communities. Whether you're enjoying live music, strolling through a farmers market, or spending time with family outdoors, August is a wonderful time to explore everything Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County, and Howard County have to offer.
